SOIL OF MARCO DE JEREZ
Albariza is a type of soil noted for its ability to retain moisture, which benefits the vine during the dry months.
Its spongy structure absorbs large amounts of water during rainy periods and prevents evaporation in hot seasons.
Other types of soils in the region are ‘mud’ and ‘sand’.

The varieties suitable for making sherry are:

VINE MORPHOLOGY
The vines are grown in rows called liños, with trellises where the plants are tied to receive sunlight.
The tillage of the land seeks to retain water in winter and conserve humidity in spring and summer.
In winter, pools are built to store rainwater.
In spring, streets are graded and weeds are removed to maintain moisture in the soil.
The ultimate goal is to obtain quality grapes.
WINES OF THE MARCO. DRY WINES
They are the most famous and rich in nuances of the wide range of sherry wines.
As its name indicates, it has a minimal sugar content as it is obtained through complete fermentation.
SWEET WINES
The sweet wines are made with the Pedro Ximénez and Muscat grape varieties, thus giving a better concentration of sugars in the sunning phase, the grapes are spread on mats between 7 and 15 days, the grapes become raisins due to a process overripe, evaporating the water and giving a higher concentration of sugars.
MIRAFLORES ALTO
It is a vineyard house built in 1888 with traditional architecture.
Although it is in a state of ruin, it still maintains the charm of the unique house it once was.
THE MARQUESITA
The setting of Jerez presents gently sloping hills or hills covered by a dazzlingly white limestone soil: La Albariza.
Its high moisture retention capacity means that sherry vineyards are planted in this type of soil; it is also compacted by heat, preventing evaporation and thus allowing good distribution of the root system.
ARMIJO CASA DE VIÑAS
Located in the Miraflores payment or better known as the Armijo payment.
Its origins date back to the end of the 17th century.
It currently belongs to the Gaspar Florido winery heirs.
The farm has a viewpoint to appreciate the horizon of the vineyards.
The house consists of a central patio, cistern stables, cellar, outbuildings…
Also worth highlighting is the original tile with the name “Armijo” found on the façade.
THE SUNISHED
Vineyard house that is located on the highest point of the Miraflores del Armijo itinerary.
At the entrance to the property, the name of the property stands out, made of wrought iron. From this place you can see spectacular views.
BIRDWATCHING
Bird watching focuses on the contemplation and study of it.
This hobby is due to the art of recognizing the different species, taking into account the song or plumage among other factors.
Located on the northwest coast, this territory acquires great ornithological importance, both for resident and migratory birds.
We can highlight the reddish warbler or “caberrubia”, this unique bird comes from Africa to nest in our province.
The red-legged or red-legged partridge has a natural preference to live among vines, its habitats are established among bushes and the margins of vineyards, where there is also an abundance of wild grasses on which it feeds.
The wheatear or white-tailed wheatear because of its white tail and rump. Its presence in the vineyard area is a harmony of vineyards with an ecological balance.
